Blog 1 - Introduction

My names Corey Seggerty, I am currently a senior at Idaho State University. I am in my last semester and looking forward to graduation. I live down in Salt Lake City, Utah and work full time as the Distribution Manager for a small tech company. The company was just recently bought out, so there has been a lot of chaos at work. On top of that I currently drive to Pocatello twice a week to attend class in person. This has left with me very little time to pursue the many hobbies that I enjoy, and I'm very much looking forward to a little extra free time at the end of this semester. My wife likes to joke that my hobby is collecting hobbies and I have quite a few of them that I keep myself busy with. I am extremely passionate about video games and have been playing them for close to two decades. My family didn't have a lot of money, so we were not able to go out much as kids. Video games were a relatively cheap form of entertainment, and something my family did together. Depending on the season, my other hobbies include: cooking, gardening, beer brewing, carpentry, hiking, camping, fishing, flying drones, reading, and skiing. This coming summer I am looking into adding some additional actives I've spent time researching over the winter. I'm looking forward to learning a new language and trying my hand at bonsai. Currently my plan is to move to Germany at the end of the semester, so once things calm down I am diving right into learning a second language.

The start of this blog comes with one of my Spring semester classes called Instructional Technology HRD. This will be my first time really delving into blogging, and the idea behind it is interesting. With the number of hobbies I've gotten myself into I have spent quite a lot of time combing through different blogs for information. I have teased the idea of creating a blog once I moved to Germany as a way to document my life in a different culture. I think I will have a better idea if its something I enjoy by the end of this semester. For myself I find the most engaging parts of blogs to be the content. Personality and writing skills do come in handy, but personally I find the meat to be the information in the blogs. Likely in part to my tech background, if there are not answers to be found I won't stay around.
