Twitter makes me feel old.

So I've never posted or utilized Twitter outside of a few software/hardware services we use at work. In the tech world that would make me a lurker, as I never really contributed to that platform. Now that we are using Twitter I find the idea a lot like texting but to the world and with hashtags. Its a little overwhelming to be honest, the biggest confusion I had is how exactly you are suppose to find or know the hashtags. While I was expanding my understanding of Twitter from online research I came across this video that I found pretty helpful.
What is a Hashtag? https://youtu.be/-4A_wdR0Ukc via @YouTube

While traversing the rabbit hole I stumbled on a series of videos called "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets". Be warned however the videos do contain quite a lot of inappropriate language for work and children.

  1. Twitter makes me feel old too. I think the experience is going to be good, though. I already find myself getting on and reading far too many post and spending too much time on there. For the purposes of training and teaching I think it will be a great tool to use. Thanks for the hash tag information. I think its pretty neat one can search for information using hashtags.

  2. I have been using Twitter for a few years, but I will be honest, I am not an expert by any means. I will say that if you search a hashtag on twitter, you will find every post that has used that same hashtag to promote their tweet. For instance, Robin has us all using #HRDtech on twitter, so when we search that hashtag, we can see all of the posts from our fellow students, just as long as we use the right tags. I hope this helps!

  3. I don't think Twitter makes me feel old as much as the way they present themselves or how millennials present their "How to Video" in the subject. The YouTube link was better way of explaining it and was geared more to how I learn things. Sometimes new things are the same as old things just, with a new copyrighted and branded name.

  4. Thank you for the video. It was helpful for me to view it. I have never even looked at twitter before this class, but I believe I am starting to get the hang of it.
